Well #4 Treatment Facility

Well No. 4 on Webb Street was drilled by a neighborhood water association in 1951. After its incorporation, the City acquired the well and in 1973 refurbished it and constructed a new well house. The well water had a marginally high iron content which was controlled with moderate success by a sequestering agent. As part of its water system upgrade the City elected to add iron removal facilities which were completed on time and under budget.

The site location of the well would not permit construction of an annex to house the iron removal equipment without obstructing access to the well for servicing. It was necessary to provide a new well house situated to permit access and to allow operation of the well during the construction period without adversely impacting the adjacent park.
